By the way, calcium helps in promoting healthy bones. Fiber on the other hand is very good in people who are constipated.

The cabbage plants various health benefits plus its wide array of culinary application makes it a truly valuable plant.

You Can’t Expect People to Just Wander Into Your Office.

The Health Care Industry today is just as competitive as any other business. Patients are becoming more savvy about their health care and have begun making choices on their own. Obviously they aren’t going to be too picky where they go if they are having a heart attack…they’ll let the paramedics decide…but when it comes to routine procedures they may have the option to choose where they go. How will they decide if they are going to choose your office or your competition’s? They will surely pick someplace with which they are familiar. Here is where direct-mail and promotional products come into play.

How Do You Get Their Attention?

It’s human nature to select someone or something because you are comfortable with it, right? That trait begins at infancy. Babies don’t like being held by strangers. Once that ‘stranger’ is around long enough and the baby sees him enough, he ceases being a stranger and the infant doesn’t fuss when he picks him up. It works the same way with adults. If a person is constantly being exposed to a business, whether they drive by it daily or see an advertisement or hear about it from an acquaintance, they begin to feel comfortable enough to patronize it. There have been many studies that confirm that phenomenon.

The Nuts and Bolts

A direct-mail campaign is an ideal way to familiarize hundreds or thousands of people with your facility. An ideal product is a mailer with a promotional refrigerator type magnet attached. The most popular product is called “magna-peel.” Do a Google search for magna-peel and look for a business that provides health care promotional products to see some examples. The recipient peels off the 3.5 X 4 inch magnet from the mailer. The magnet displays the business information as well as a calendar or other handy information. These magnets don’t get tossed in the trash like most conventional paper mailers. Instead they find their way to a prominent spot in the kitchen or workplace, where it is seen on a daily basis. The more people see it…the more comfortable they become with the business, remember?

They Work!

That’s the exact result you want, too. When it comes time for the person to pick a Health Care facility, they’re going to think of your office right away because is has been etched into their minds by the many times they have looked at that product on their refrigerator.

A large growth area that is emerging for audio-visual systems is in health care, hospitals and medical field. More and more doctors and other health care professionals are using the interactive nature of videoconferencing to work with more patients, and saving time and travel for both patients and doctors at the same time. Additionally, videoconferencing equipment allows health care professionals to work more efficiently within their own health care systems and regional facilities and allow for faster coordination.

The videoconferencing market in health care facilities is increasing as a result of better videoconferencing equipment, lower costs and increased demand by health care professionals. This is a combination of sharper uses of technology in all aspects of our work lives, and finding better ways to create advantages.

Today, more and more health care agencies and hospitals can use video conferencing equipment and accompanying technology to overcome some hurdles in health care education, management and patient diagnoses.

As the baby boomers of our generation reach their 60s and 70s, there is expected to be a greater demand for health care and health care facilities over the next 10-30 years. And the last few years have helped our older citizens become more comfortable with new technology tools, like laser cameras, internal xrays and more. Adding video conferencing to the mix isnt as great a tech hurdle today as it may have been 5-10 years ago.

Some of the benefits of increased videoconferencing in health care is outlined by research firm Ovum, which talks about the different ways that the technology can be used. Its researcher writes:

Video conferencing solutions must be tailored to a range of different usage scenarios, ranging from disease-specific diagnosis and treatment between a care provider and patient to consultation between professionals. The equipment and networks required will also vary significantly, ranging from high-end telepresence that is reliant on a high-speed broadband connection to simple desktop and laptop services.

Ovum writes that the emotional connection in video conferencing enables physicians to see nuances in patient behavior. Not only that, but video conferencing can connect doctors in remote locations with their colleagues to share knowledge and bring about greater collaboration between physicians with different specializations. All of these benefits can occur in health care as a result of connectivity via video conferencing.

While the researchers maintain that, for patients, face-to-face communications is still a much better overall experience, having video conferencing capabilities can be the next best thing. And were inclined to agree.

Using video conferencing and other means to provide real-time visual collaboration can be a great boon to communications between doctors and patients, as well as between health care professionals.

CCS Presentation Systems is among the largest U.S. audio-visual system integration firms, and one of the leading providers of audio-video products and solutions in the nation. For more information on how CCS can consult with your health care organization on how to bring videoconferencing into the mix of your operations, please contact us at www.ccsprojects.com.

If getting plastic surgery in your own backyard embarrasses you, how about getting it in Lisbon. Lisbon has the best plastic surgeons in the world and post-operative care is also excellent. You can combine your treatment with a real treat – enjoying the best of Lisbon while you can and in comfortable and luxurious surroundings.

Lisbon Hospitals: If the issue is a minor beauty surgery and the cost is more affordable compared to local plastic surgery, it is smart to get the procedure here in Lisbon. The procedure is done in private clinics or in private hospitals. Nobody need to know that you had a boob job, nose lift, or removal of sagging eye bags. Patient information is kept secure, unless you are celebrity forever hounded by sly paparazzi.

Private hospitals are run efficiently and medical services and lab exams are immediately done. For minor medical consultations, it is also practical to go to private hospitals. Government hospitals are fine but if you are in a hurry you cannot afford to wait in line for hours.

Fortunately these hospitals are easily accessible in the city. But if you happen to seek medical attention in rural areas, be prepared to deal with less adequate facilities. The language problem is also an issue in rural areas. Doctors and nurses in private and public hospitals in the city can communicate effectively with English-speaking tourists.

Lisbon’s main hospitals are Hospital de Santa Maria, Hospitais Civis de Lisboa, National Institute of Oncology Francisco Gentil, and Hospital Polido Valente. There is no dearth of pharmacies too. You can have your Lisbon doctor’s prescription filled any time.

Apart from beauty treatments, Lisbon is also a Mecca for those seeking drug rehabilitation and treatment. The same confidentiality is given to patients’ information. Those hospitals or treatment centers are situated in private enclaves or in centers away from the city center. To find the best drug rehabilitation center or plastic surgeon, check the ratings for centers and doctors.

Accommodation: Holiday apartments for rent in Lisbon are aplenty. Apartments are cheaper than hotels if you plan an extended stay in Lisbon. The apartments are often renovated homes or new buildings with cozy bedrooms and a spacious living room. Luxury apartments boast of private pools and rooms with a view.

Book a holiday apartment online to get a good look at the offerings – number of rooms, facilities, and apartment location. You can make special arrangements should you need a place to recuperate. Rates are accordingly charged – per person per night or rent for use of the apartment for an extended period.

Online bookings are secure and customer information is held in strict confidence. With this assurance, seeking beauty treatment in Lisbon is breeze.

Every hospital has risk assessment and fall prevention protocols, yet every hospital has patients falling out of bed, while walking, during transfer, from a chair, from the portable commode, from the toilet, from a seated position, while taking a shower, and while dressing. A great many of those accidents result in serious and sometimes fatal injuries, such as hip fractures, skull fractures, brain hemorrhage, rib fractures, and the like.

In a court case, the question of liability rests with whether the fall was preventable. Most cases are the result of negligence where the staff members dropped the patient, forgot to put up the side rails, or failed to answer the call buzzer in a timely manner. Nonetheless, given the current state of affairs, hospital personnel cannot prevent all falls.

Thus even if a nurse takes all reasonable precautions and answers the call bells immediately, the patient could still plunge to the floor and no one person is legally to blame. Yet every accident has its cause and effect, so even when there is no specific negligence according to current standards, it is socially irresponsible to accept a certain percentage of falls as inevitable. And it seems especially irresponsible if it’s you or someone you love who has fallen.

Hospitals need further investigation to find out what design flaws exist or what is lacking in the patient’s environment that allows a sick person to slip out of bed undetected until the staff members hear the awful sound of someone hitting the floor or crashing into one of the furnishings and/or equipment items. Motion sensor and video surveillance technology has become wireless and inexpensive. With such devices, an alarm would go off every time a patient at risk placed an arm or leg off the bed. These patients would be mostly ambulatory elderly to whom the nurses gave instructions to call for assistance before getting out of bed.

Meanwhile, if you as the patient or family member as an advocate engage the staff and express your concern about the dangers of falling, this will heighten their awareness. Likewise, hospital management can also help to reduce incidence of falling by launching education campaigns warning new patients and family members about the possibility of falling and teaching what steps to take to maintain safety. They should hand out pamphlets and put up signs in the lobby and all the corridors. Fall prevention needs to be a cooperative effort between patients, family, and hospital executives and staff.

Most of us are not home for lunch on most work days, and it becomes a challenge to find healthy lunch recipes which are easy to prepare, nutritious to eat, and yet do not spoil while away from home until lunch time.

If you have a refrigerator at work, where you can store food, make full use of this facility. This will allow you more options as to what to prepare, as it will remain fresher for longer.

Toss a few lettuce leaves, salad tomatoes and pieces of cucumbers in a bowl. Keep a few chicken strips in a separate bowl. At lunch time, add the chicken strips, a low fat salad dressing, and serve with fresh pita bread.

A tuna salad can be versatile and refreshing, yet healthy and filling too. Tuna salad can be made ahead of time, using fresh lettuce, chopped tomato, sliced onion and tuna. Mix in a little vinaigrette, low-fat salad dressing or mayonnaise. Store in the refrigerator, and serve with a fresh roll, rye bread or crackers.

Another simple lunch to make in the office kitchen is cream cheese and crackers. Sliced sweet pepper pickles, sliced cucumber pickles or any other pickles you enjoy can be prepared ahead. Place a spoon of fresh cream cheese on a cracker. Top with pickles and enjoy.

Fruit salad makes a delicious light but healthy lunch. Fruit salad can be made ahead of time easily, and stored in the fridge. Dice your chosen fruits. Sprinkle with a little lemon juice, and cover tightly with cling film, making sure no air can get to the fruit. Seal tightly. Serve your fruit salad with yoghurt.

If the office kitchen has a microwave available, you might want to try a couple of these ideas.

Fry an onion until golden. Add a little ground beef and salt and pepper too taste. Once at the office, heat the beef in the microwave. Place a little lettuce, sliced tomato and the warm beef on a buttered roll.

Make your favourite soup ahead of time. Freeze the soup in portions. Take a portion out of the freezer the night before work, and keep in the fridge. Microwave the soup at lunch time for a quick and healthy meal.

When making pies and casseroles, smaller portions can be set aside for a meal at the office, easily heated quickly.

Whatever you prefer eating for a healthy lunch, remember to always keep the staples handy: tuna, boiled eggs, crackers, cream cheese and fresh fruit. If you stick to making healthy lunch recipes, even while at the office, you will find your need to nibble in-between meals will drop sharply.

When a powerful earthquake struck Haiti on Tuesday, many of those injured by collapsed buildings lay in the streets pleading for help. Even for those with open fractures and head injuries, there was little else they could do.

Haiti is not prepared to handle disaster.

By every measure, it’s the poorest country in the Western hemisphere and it has a health care system to match.

There have been improvements in overall life expectancy and infant mortality, and vaccination programs have helped largely eradicate some diseases like polio, but the country remains desperate for affordable health services. What few services existed declined in the last two decades because of political instability.

The country spends less than $85 per person on health care every year, and much of what is actually delivered is done by a patchwork of agencies from around the world.

Haiti has a public health crisis, according to Mdecins Sans Frontires (MSF)/Doctors Without Borders, one of several foreign medical aid groups that operate free emergency health services in the country. MSF’s own clinics are often overwhelmed by people who can’t afford to pay for private care. Public hospitals and clinics are plagued by management problems and shortages of medications, says the organization.

“The reality of what we are seeing is severe traumas, head wounds, crushed limbs, severe problems that cannot be dealt with with the level of medical care we currently have available with no infrastructure really to support it,” said Paul McPhun, operations manager for the group’s Canadian section. The country’s health indicators are grim. The average life expectancy is about 52, and Haiti has the highest infant and maternal mortality rates in the region.

More than 138,000 children under five die of preventable diseases every year, and women routinely die terrible deaths in childbirth because they live too far away from medical help, in rural areas without services or simply can’t afford to pay for services.

UNICEF says that out of every 100,000 live births, 670 women died of pregnancy-related causes in 2006. That’s five times the Latin American average.

Diarrhea, respiratory infections, malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS are leading causes of death. There is poor sanitation and increasing malnutrition, brought on by growing poverty.

In rural areas, only 14 per cent of residents have adequate sanitation, and most rural Haitians lack even basic health care services.

Too many men look at their penis as a separate entity instead of a functioning and necessary part of their body. Your penis if you wish it to perform on command must stay healthy. Besides having regular sex not only for the health of your penis but your body, you should also remember to keep the rest of your body in tip-top shape to ensure that your penis is getting all the blood flow, nutrients, and oxygen it needs.

In order to do this you should use this guideline for a healthy body and healthy penis.

Eating Healthy

You should eat five or more servings of fruits and vegetables per day and eat items with less saturated fat. Eating well-balanced meals can keep your weight where it should be and provide your body with the necessary vitamins and nutrients it needs to function properly including your penis.

Exercise

Exercise is an important part of maintaining proper weight for your height. Sex is one great exercise that burns more calories than most other exercise and is of course a lot more fun. Being overweight can cause all kinds of health problems and can affect your sexual activities. Obesity leads to diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. In addition, if you are really overweight you may not be able to perform sexually, since you will more than likely not have enough energy to enjoy a sex session.

The doctors recommend that physical activity promote many healthy benefits such as gets the heart pumping blood and oxygen flowing throughout your body. In order for your penis to stay healthy, it requires blood and oxygen. However, instead of running a mile or two when it is freezing outside, jump in bed with your partner. A 20-minute sex session will also increase your heart rate, blood flow and give you a feeling of well-being.

Quit Smoking!

Smoking is associated with lung cancer and heart disease. You need your heart and lungs to function properly and provide your penis with the blood flow it needs to have those rock hard erections.

Manage your stress

Did you know that sex could also aid with stress related situations in some cases? Sex is also a great antidepressant. Next time you feel stressed or anxious, do not run to the medicine cabinet to pop a pill, jump in your partners arms. Try a more natural way of reducing stress and depression than medication. Of course, sex will not eliminate all of the problems that you may encounter in your life but it will not hurt you and it could help you in more than ways than you can imagine.

Keep your body healthy so your penis will be healthy. Your body and your penis work hand in hand to maintain a healthy body. To be sure, that your penis is actually receiving adequate blood flow you can also begin a penis enlargement program, the exercises that can be used also help with other healthy issues besides the size of your penis.

Osteogenesis imperfecta are big words, especially for a 6-year-old. But the words are a medical term that Leigh Dittman is not only able to easily say; she knows exactly what it means.

Leigh was registered as a patient at Shriners Hospitals for Children-Tampa before she was even born. Her parents realized their baby would need orthopaedic care when technicians noticed Leigh’s legs were shorter than normal during one of Ellen Dittman’s sonograms. Doctors were unable to diagnose the problem before Leigh’s birth but knew it was orthopaedic-related. Ellen and her husband, David, contacted the Tampa Shriners Hospital.

When Leigh was born, she measured only 15.5 inches long, and doctors discovered she had broken five ribs and fractured a femur in utero. A few hours after her birth, Leigh was diagnosed with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), a genetic disorder caused by imperfectly formed bone collagen. The condition is commonly known as “brittle bone disease” and is characterized by bones that break easily, often from little or no apparent cause.

First Treatment At 3 Weeks Old

Leigh received her first treatment at the Tampa Shriners Hospital when she was three weeks old. She now goes in every few months to receive intravenous medicine meant to increase bone density, but Leigh usually stops by the hospital at least once a month to visit her doctors and the many friends she’s made there. “We love it,” said Ellen. “That hospital is like our second home.”

In appreciation of the loving care Leigh receives at the Tampa hospital, the Dittman family began raising money for Shriners Hospitals. “It was actually Leigh’s idea,” said Ellen. “She says Shriners helps her, so she wanted to help them.”

An Overwhelming Response

Beginning with Leigh’s fourth birthday party in 2004, the Dittmans asked that, in lieu of bringing gifts, guests donate money to Shriners Hospitals. Due to the overwhelming response from loved ones and the community, Leigh and her family decided to make it an annual fundraising event.

Approximately 450 people attended Leigh’s sixth birthday party in August. The event, which included dinner, a special video about the Tampa Shriners Hospital, a chance drawing, a silent auction and dancing, raised more than $50,000. In total, Leigh’s birthday party extravaganzas have resulted in nearly $78,000 in donations to the Tampa Shriners Hospital.

Leigh and her father, David, accept a donation to the Leigh Dittman Foundation. Leigh’s third-annual fundraising event raised more than $50,000 for the Tampa Shriners Hospital.

There are so many massage therapy schools with so many options available; it can be a little overwhelming. Massage therapy school programs vary in cost based on the individual state’s licensing requirements. On average, tuition ranges from about $6.00 to $17.00 per credit hour of class time. When considering the length of a massage therapy training program, the time required is influenced by whether you just need the bare-bone minimum required by your state to practice general massage therapy or if you need extensive training necessary to meet specific proficiency criteria to master massage therapy professional disciplines, as a registered massage therapist. Depending on the program you choose, it can take as long as a few weeks up to 2 years to complete.

Training requirements for massage therapy programs are different based on the locale. Commonly, your core subjects will be what are required by massage therapy standardizations and state regulations for licensing, such as anatomy, structure and function; legal and business ethics; massage and allied health modalities; kinesiology, body mechanics; pathology; and including but not limited to general education and electives required in some states. There are no 2 massage therapy schools alike, so it is important to distinguish which program most closely fits your career intentions, personality, schedule, and financial situation. Today, there are so many online massage therapy schools. Explore and compare education and training requirements, certification, and licensing required ensuring that you get the best foundation to jump start your career. In addition to massage therapy certification and licenses, students can earn massage therapy degrees, such as an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences.

Do schools do background checks? There are many schools that require criminal background checks prior to admission and some states will require one prior to licensing as well. Massage therapy is a health career. With this in mind, some schools will request a criminal background check, and up-to-date immunization records including but not limited to a Tuberculosis screening, MMR, and DPT immunizations. When applying with a massage therapy school, you will be given pre-admission requisites that you should scrutinize carefully. If you have concerns not addressed in the packet, it’s okay to check with your academic advisor for more information.

Blood pressure is nothing but the rate at which the blood is circulated by the heart throughout the body. A condition of high blood pressure is when the force of the blood is very heavy. Also known as hypertension, it’s one of the most common problems faced by people of this age. Try to take care if you have symptoms of high blood pressure like head pain, lightheaded, shivering and worn-out easily.
There are many treatments for high blood pressure. In this article we are going to cover the home-made remedies and also the yoga suggested by Swami Ramdev Baba for the same. To begin with home remedies should be considered. Chew a clove of garlic daily in empty stomach along with a glass of water. This is the best remedy for high blood pressure.
Having pepper powder in tepid water just like tea also helps. This is a natural remedy to lower blood pressure. First thing in the morning on an empty stomach eat a papaya for positive results. Walking for at least 30 min with out shoes will also help in bringing down the high blood pressure. You can reduce blood pressure by eating steamed potatoes.
Swami Ramdev Baba suggests the practice of yoga to reduce blood pressure without out any drugs and almost immediately. Pranayama has many benefits and since it uses only breathing techniques, it’s easy to practice too. Apart from other exercises Ujjayi Pranayama, Nadishodhan Pranayam are more beneficial. A breath seizing exercise called Kumbhaka should not be practised by high BP patients.
I advise you to follow these simple yoga exercises and natural remedies to help reduce and control of your high BP. One should undertake yoga first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Keep a watch on your blood pressure along with a regular visit to your doctor frequently. We aspire that you will find this writeup very valuable.
